SO this article.

Seriously? They are their own creatures. This is the kind of attitude that leads to slave trade. The fact that they are their own creatures means you shouldn't own one.
Look at the Chewy/Han Solo relationship. It's more of a partner less of an ownership.

You don't own your friends, you silly woman. If a species can create theology you should not steal their babies and imprison them.

My grandmother admitted I'm a better cook than she is.

I've been thinking a lot about inspiration and how the only thing I manage to actually accomplish is by cooking. I'm not sure whats holding me back. Well at this portion of my life it's time, or lack there of between taking care of the house, the girls and the dogs.
Perhaps I should actually attempt to do something else. Luckily, I'm to busy to feel like I'm stagnating. Next year we will get the garden done.

My Grandmother is giving me her recipes. I have talked her into sending them to me while she is still alive so that I can cook my way through them and still have her around to ask questions of when I hit a snag.

I don't know if I'm explaining this task well enough-
I come from a family of cooks. Everything from restauranteurs to catering services, farmers wives and cafeteria workers. Here is my recipe collection
I have managed to transcribe most of mine into binders. Now, imagine what it will look like in say... 40 years.
That pile of half used envelopes covered in my family history filling a hutch is what I will be dealing with. Scraps of paper with notes from my beloved family members, being able to translate and transcribe the culinary workings of women with 4th grade educations who managed to raise 13 children during the depression. I am not sure if I can express how much undertaking this labor of love excites me.
The plan is to make them, then type it out and bind it. Find a site where I can have them printed so whoever wants one can just order it.

I'm ready.

Virginia is going to be 3 on Monday.

It is taking me a bit to soak that in. Some moments it seems like she is still my tiny baby and some times I can see her growing into the child and eventually women she is meant to be.

It's overwhelming.

Amelia is 4 and a half months old and trying to crawl.

I'm not sure where time is going but I just want it to slow down a little.

flagship post

So out of boredom I have opted to begin a blog.

well, another blog I suppose. Since my days lately are filled with baby and dog duties I suppose Ishould have some sort of outlet for my thoughts. Granted throwing them out to the universe is a bit different than explaining that shoes go on feet and pants cover your legs but thats the sort of conversations I've been having lately.

Granted I view most blogging as exercising your bitch muscle where someone may or may not see it. Then again everyone needs some of that in their life.

So for starters, I'm a new mother and a new housewife. Both of these things are fairly daunting. I'm not what you would call an avid house cleaner. If anything, I'm fairly lax on what goes where as long as it is in the general vicinity of where it should be. I am a fairly awesome cook and getting to do that daily is a fairly exciting opportunity to have a creative outlet.

Well, so much for this post. I need to be somewhat productive.
